Solo Horn

What year did you join Littleport?

I first joined in about 1992 when I was 11 or 12, and left in my 20’s to go to uni, travel and work.  I recently rejoined in January 2022 after a long break from playing any brass instruments.

When did you start playing and on what instrument?

I started playing at primary school at about age 9 on the Baritone.

Who was your inspiration when you started playing?

Brian Halls, who introduced me to the baritone and was my teacher for many years. His positivity, kindness and enthusiasm was always unwavering.  He also invited me to join Littleport band which was nerve wracking for me as a child but Brian always had belief in everyone and joining the band started a lifelong love of playing group music.

Why do you enjoy playing at Littleport?

I love playing at a friendly band where the music and events are varied. It’s great to be with people who share a love of music and brass.

What would you like to achieve with Littleport?

I would love for Littleport to progress in to the 2nd section, and to continue to challenge ourselves.

I would personally like to achieve a richer and more rounded sound, as well as reach some higher notes without bursting a blood vessel!!

I am looking forward to the Whit Friday marches which is a new event for me

What secret conspiracy would you like to start?

Well, I’ve already started so many, it’s hard to share just one…..

How do you feel about putting pineapple on pizza?

Why would you do that to a pizza?

What kind of secret society would you like to start?

Secret society for people with a love of cheese and brown sauce toasties, who sing at the top of their voices (badly) and have an unhealthily large collection of miniature gins.
